Inspiring Stories: Jawan

An army personal enters an ATM cabin in Khwaja Bagh area of Baramulla Kashmir. He withdraws one hundred rupees from it, places the note neatly in his wallet. Next day, he returns again and withdraws the same amount from the ATM. Then he goes on like this for many more days to come. The guard at the ATM notices this wacky act but refrains from inquiring about the same, given the old and deep rooted fear of men in uniform. He resists for days, few more and many more. On a day when there are few civilians around, he musters the courage to ask, for he believes if the army personal gets enraged over him, the civilians around will rescue him from his wrath. The guard proceeds to ask: “Sahab, Why do you withdraw only hundred rupees from the ATM? Why do you trouble yourself on daily basis when you can withdraw a hefty amount that will last for weeks?” The army personal rubs his forehead as he looks tired; tucks his trousers properly and before he makes his way out of the cabin, tells the...

#BuildingLife : Poem for Green Building Poetry Campaign

Image
To reach the sky I build the steps, I use the stones thrown at me. One stepup and one step down thinking on the college stairs, one stepup and one step down. The walls, where I have left not one stone on a stone, what if it cracks, I wonder!! What will fall a wall or the hope I have built, what will buckle a post or the faith I have erected, what will fail a structure or the future I  have created. The time is standing still, for making it as a monument in the building life and to know the answers. Yes, l have built a wall, erected a post, and  created a structure it's true and I am confident with the smile on the faces of inmates, that I have built the hope, the faith and the future along side. My job never stops, as the road to success is always under construction. 27/09/2019 Visakhapatnam

Engineering For Change

An Essay As Part Of Engineers' Day 2019 Engineering saw it's beginning at the same time when the evolution of the human kind began. Since then, it has been witnessing change along with time. It being such an ancent and even after this lot of development in technology the classical definition of engineering still holds good even today and the defination is as follows: "It is an art of using science and math for the benfit of human race". Even today, some how we are far behind reaching the scope of engineering ie "benfitting the human race". We all know the reasons for this failure very well and we also very well know what is to be done now. For an instance keeping all these apart, for me engineering is always a wonderful experience of learning, enjoining, working and developing. A poet trys to bring change with his work in his readers, he trys to change the perception of the readers. Likely a engineer also always try to bring the change in...

Answer is "PEOPLE WON'T HURT US ONLY OUR EXPECTATIONS ON THEM ONLY HURT US."   Is it not my friends.Think not about people think about our expectations.

Classification of Bricks

Image
Bricks One of the oldest building material brick continues to be a most popular and leading construction material because of being cheap, durable and easy to handle and work with. Clay bricks are used for building-up exterior and interior walls, partitions, piers, footings and other load bearing structures. A brick is rectangular in shape and of size that can be conveniently handled with one hand. Brick may be made of burnt clay or mixture of sand and lime or of Portland cement concrete. Clay bricks are commonly used since these are economical and easily available. The length, width and height of a brick are interrelated as below: Length of brick = 2 × width of brick + thickness of mortar Height of brick = width of brick Size of a standard brick (also known as modular brick) should be 19 × 9 × 9 cm and 19 × 9 × 4 cm. When placed in masonry the 19 × 9 × 9 cm brick with mortar becomes 20 × 10 × 10 cm. However, the bricks available in most part of the country still are 9" × 1 4 2 ...

COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH OF BRICK (IS:3495-PART 1-1992)

Image
OBJECTIVE For determination of compressive strength of bricks   REFERENCE  STANDARD IS: 3495 – P (1)-1992-Methods of tests of burnt clay building bricks (Determination of compressive strength) EQUIPMENT & APPARATUS Compression Testing Machine Scale for measuring dimension of brick PROCEDURE Unevenness observed in the bed faces of bricks is removed to provide two smooth and parallel faces by grinding. It is immersed in water at room temperature for 24 h. The specimen is then removed and any surplus moisture is drained out at room temperature. The frog and all voids in the bed face is filled with cement mortar (1 cement, clean coarse sand of grade 3 mm and down). It is stored under the damp jute bags for 24 h followed by immersion in clean water for 3 days. The specimen is placed with flat faces horizontal, and mortar filled face facing upwards between two 3 ply plywood sheets each of 3 mm thickness and carefully centered between plates of testing machine. Load is applied ax...

Story: Greatness Of An Engineer

Once God wants to know who is the greatest among a scientist, a mathematician and an engineer. So he called all three of them to haven. God has given them a ball and asked all of them to find the volume of the ball. Immediately the mathematician uses the formula and finds the volume. God is impressed with his skills and asks the scientist to find the volume of the ball. Scientist takes a beaker of water and places the ball in the beaker, he finds the volume of water displaced and gives the volume of the ball to the God. Once again God is impressed and now he gives the turn to the engineer. Engineer simply took the ball and observed it very carefully and switched his mobile, went to the company's website which manufactured the ball. He saw the volume of the ball in the website and simply told the value to the God. This time God shocked and engineer rocked!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😉😉
