A Honest Engineer

It was a small remote village. The village was not even connected to the electricity grid. A engineer was appointed to survey that village. Engineering went to the village and used to do survey on the day. At night he used to stay at the house of village head.

After completing the dinner, the engineer took take two candles from his bag and lighted them. In that two candles light he used to do his calculations and report writing.

After completing his calculations and report writing, he put off the candles and took another two candles from his bag and lighted them. In the light of new candles he started reading his book.

The village head, who is quietly observing the engineer asked him "Why haven't you read the book in the light of first two candles? Why did you put off them and lighted two new candles?"

The engineer replied that first two candles were given by government. In the light of those candle I did government work. Now for my pleasure i am reading book in the light of my candles.

"Many people will miss use the government money but this engineer is different. He is a honest person", thought the village head in his mind.

The engineer was Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya
