Short Story
There was a forest, which was such a wonderful and amazing
place, that all types of flora and fauna wished to live there. It was
green everywhere and some flowers here and there, where insects hummed
collecting nectar and birds sing songs to impress there mates. It was a home
for rabbits, butterflies, squirrels, lizards, mice, foxes, spiders, deer, and
wild buffalo and for many more wild animals.
The forest was
ruled by a pride of lions. Pride had lions, lioness and cubs. Mothers always
protected the cubs, as there was a threat from other wild animals. Hunting was job
of the elders and cubs never allowed. One day they got a chance for hunting
after their repeated requests.
All the cubs
were asked to make a plan to attack then to execute it and then to share the
prey. After executing the plan, they had a deer to eat. All the cubs
had to share the prey. One of the cub said that it wanted a higher share as it
attacked the deer’s neck without fear. Other cub said that it had planned the
attack so it should get a better share. All cubs started to demand for higher
share and started to quarrel.
The quarrel
somehow ended for the day but the cubs decided that they must show their
capacity to reaming sibling cubs. Therefore, the next day, they all
began to prey individually to demonstrate their strength and power. As the days
passed exploitation continued by cubs, now became lions. The animals were
endangered and at the verge of extinction due to over exploitation. This led to
a disturbance in biodiversity. The forest degraded its green and beauty.
Observing the
situation all the learned and elderly animals of the forest came together and constituted
new rules. These rules were based on basic principle of nature that to
hunt only to fulfill their hunger and needs but not too fulfill their greed. A
prize as a positive reinforcement was also given to those animals, which obeyed
the rules to fullest extent. Every animal of the forest followed the new rules
including the young lions. Once again, the forest regained its lost glory and flourished
with joy, happiness and with green once again.
This story has
a grate resemblance with our own story. The young and energetic cubs, which preyed
excessively, are like some of us who exploit the nature without any genuine
need. And all the learned and elderly who took initiative to streamline the
hunting and restricting the extent of hunting while not compromising the need
to satisfy hunger are like our IGBC.
With genuine
cause and collective efforts, will bring lost glory to live, like in this story
and will be the same in our story.
